When Do I Do Yoga?

"Be Great, Feel Great, Act Great"

The great thing about yoga is that you can do it at anytime in the day, from morning to evening. From my personal experience, I prefer to begin my day with a yoga practice. Doing yoga in the morning is a great way to start the day, as it leaves you feeling completely relaxed and ready to face the day. I have noticed a difference in myself, as it leaves me more awake and ready to take on whatever I need to do that day and just more proactive.

Night time yoga is also brilliant way to end the day, as it takes of a different style if you do routines specifically aimed for winding down. They are more floor based, and involve some extremely relaxing poses, the instructor specifically reminding you not to push yourself before bedtime. They also aim to help you fall into a more comfortable and calm sleep.

How To Get Started

"Empty yourself and let the universe fill you"

Yoga is a spot that can be done in almost any location, inside or outside, which makes it extremely easy to do. The only item needed is a yoga mat (Shown below) that can be found from most sports shops,  and which ensures that it is comfortable for you to perform certain positions as well as slightly cushioning your as you lie on the floor. Of course it's best to do poses such as downward dog, sans an actual dog taking up the space on the mat!

In addition to a yoga mat, there are also other items of equipment that you can use to make your session more comfortable, as well as accommodating certain stretches so that you can do them properly. A yoga dot as shown below, is the perfect shape and size to support an arm or even your whole body for specific positions and I completely recommend it!

It is vital that you follow a programme or some form of instruction during your sessions, as you want the exercises to be suited to your body and additionally give you the ultimate feel good factor. Throughout my time doing yoga, I will be using the website Gaiam Tv, which you pay to subscribe to but is completely worth every penny! It offers hundreds of videos from different instructors, often instructing you interesting locations, from easy levels of difficulty to head stand hard! I would definitely recommend it, the eye candy isn't bad either!
